I saw shinesman about a year ago on a whim and discovered it was hilarious. It is a parody of any power rangers type present and will have you laughing the entire time. Unfourtounatly there are only two episodes and it leaves you begging for more. The english dub amazingly is even funnier than the japansese sub. This is a colossal demonstrate for anyone who wants a laugh.

This DVD is a hilarious send-up of the Power-Rangers superhero genre. The status includes the classic “Defective Forces from another world want to seize over Earth”, and includes the typical (mostly) incompetent royal leader, the more-competent aide, and of course the cute/naive villaness. On the wonderful side, we have five (of course) people in combat-power suits, color-coded.

Of course, the colors the heroes have chosen are recent, and a recurring joke throughout the episodes. There is a lot of humor for adults (”I can’t die! I have a date with…”), but absolutely nothing objectionable for youngsters.

The production quality of this DVD is also sound, and the dubbing works beautiful. I’m frankly surprised that Cartoon Network hasn’t shown this. The ONLY downside to this DVD is that its too short. Only two episodes are available; I doubt more were made by the animators (sing…)

A cinematic version of Tolkien’s THE LORD OF THE RINGS ranks up with the hope that Lucas will indeed construct another Star Wars Trilogy, and, I believe I can safely say, this is one of the most anticipated films in the movie industry’s long and checkered history. You would contemplate it’s movie paradise, considering Lucas has been in the midst of another Star Wars trilogy and LORD OF THE RINGS has finally got a cinema deal (live action!), but PHANTOM MENACE proved something of a disappointment (Mesa Jar Jar Binks!), and I believe quite a few people will enter into the theatre with a distinct amount of trepidation.

There’s a reason for that. Three inspiring Tolkien films have been released with very problematic results. The 1978 Bakshi release is unbiased embarrassing; the film is both incoherent and confusing.

Rankin & Bass’s two movies are aesthetic for shrimp kids; those two films are Tolkien for Saturday Morning cartoons. They proved my introduction to Tolkien and for that I am thankful, but the movies unruffled fail to lift the grandeur of Tolkien’s imagination.

There are two things to reflect here about a work of literature. Although all pleasurable literature has a polarization attain on its readers, this work has a immense legion of followers which are extremely dedicated to Tolkien’s vision (I count myself a member of this camp) . The other camp cannot figure out what the gigantic fuss is about and why they should care about the current.

Now, there’s a reason why all this is relevant to the film: had Peter Jackson gone to far either plot the film would have fallen apart. Appeal to distinguished to the fan-base and you loose the general movie-goer. Appeal to powerful to the movie-goer, and you’ll lose the fan-base.

So when the fan despicable learned of Peter Jackson’s decision to film all three films at once, an unprecedented go in movie history, most of us really wanted it to be kindly but were objective simply worried. We’ve already been burnt. Would it be so unpleasant that it would alienate both fan deplorable and those who are unbiased looking for a edifying movie?

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring! Click Here

Not only does Peter Jackson’s film work, it’s comely, fine, has all the tale and grandeur of the book. Jackson, a Tolkien fanatic, could have gotten so keen with bringing out the extremely detailed world Tolkien gave us that the pacing would suffer or we’d lose patience with all these obscure details which would alienate the regular movie goer. Not only does he not alienate the general movie goer, but he entices the fan nasty so considerable they can’t assist but descend in like with his vision of Tolkien’s world.

The only steady flaw is how rushed first fraction of the movie is. Although I can understand cutting the Conventional Forest and Tom Bombadil, the arrangement they handled getting the hobbits out of the Shire was unacceptable. There is not that sense of camaraderie between the Hobbits that there is in the book, there is no “conspiracy,” and Merry and Pippin fair join without any questioning from Sam and Frodo. While Jackson does a genuine job at building the Hobbits’ characters and establishing their personalities, I couldn’t near up with a pleasant reason why Frodo and Sam would honest let Merry and Pippin join them.

The Prancing Pony is worst. There is no questioning from the Hobbits about Aragorn proving himself, there is no scene about him asking them to trust him, and the whole sequence feels powerful too rushed. Sam only questions Aragorn while they’re actually out of the inn and traveling.

Thankfully, however, that is the only precise flaw. The rest of the things the script changed (tightening Elrond’s council, the expansion of Arwen, cutting Sam from the Galadriel mirror sequence, tempting Aragorn with the ring, etc) I can explore why they did it for dramatic tension. I also liked the intention they handled Elrond’s council, because that could have ruined the movie like it did with Bakshi’s. They had established and covered worthy of the material in that chapter elsewhere by means of voice-over prologue and actually showing the viewer what is happening (especially with the Isengard sequences), and as a result lessened the screentime of that scene and helping with the dramatics of it.

As for the controversial expansion of Arwen, I tend to agree with the film makers in their decision to enlarge her role. By making her piece of the Ford sequence it introduces the character and establishes her in the viewer’s mind, and the relationship between Arwen and Aragorn is more fully explored. As for their romantic interlude in Rivendell, not only do I agree with that but consider it should have been done in the book. Tolkien did not know who Strider was when he was first writing FELLOWSHIP, and did not go support and change the scenes to further elaborate the romance between Arwen and Aragorn, and by not including a scene in Rivendell to put their like for one another lessens by far the impact of their union in Fraction III, and (for once) this romantic scene is actually an improvement on the book. As for her role in the Flight at the Ford, for the movie they made the accurate choice though the book is mild preferable.

In achieving the balance between fan disagreeable and the more causal fan, this film is a spectacular success. Making a movie out of a book the size of Fellowship, the fact is you will have to condense, tighten, rearrange, and construct changes for dramatic tensions. The mediums are different, and you cannot have a divulge translation from a book to a film. Despite of what they chop, the movie quiet clocks in at three hours, which is very edifying. The actual pickle with this film, as others famed, is it’s going to be a paunchy two years before we finally accumulate to gawk THE RETURN OF THE KING.

In the destroy, we gain a movie that stays fair to the SPIRIT of the book. This is what we Tolkien fans have long been waiting for. Thank you so considerable Peter Jackson and your cast and crew.

I already reviewed the regular “Motion Characterize Trilogy” containing the non-extended editions of the legendary Lord of The Rings masterpieces on one plot. However, this newest edition is a stout improvement on the previous edition. This item is a remarkable, Worthy better investment than the extinct theatrical counterparts and is perhaps the greatest DVD steal one will likely ever perform.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring! Click Here

A lot “Director’s Sever” scenes are usually unprejudiced added footage that doesn’t do a whole lot to add onto the theatrical edition of movies with examples like Star Wars, Manhunter, or even most of the “Aliens” movies as well. The extra material is fair that, extras, that wouldn’t waste me to never leer again.

It’s a totally different record altogether with the “Lord Of The Rings” movies altogether. While the regular theatrical editions were mind-blowing, the extended cuts of the same films do wonders in fleshing out the yarn and expanding the characters a lot more. Several characters that were not grand more than background people are shown remarkable more cover time, stories are greatly expanded, other scenes are great more meaningful, and the movies overall have a totally different feel altogether thanks to all of the extra footage that was not included on the theatrical editions. Now as I gawk them, the stale editions of them are rendered almost completely old due to the chopped up nature of them. I sometimes wonder if Peter Jackson grimaced when he had to leave a lot of extra shots out of the movies to fit them onto the theatres when they were released.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring! Click Here

“Fellowship” has 30 minutes of extra footage included to a length of 3 and a half hours. “The Two Towers” was extended 43 minutes to a total of 3 hours and 42 minutes and finally “The Return of The King” is extended by a vast 50 minutes and the ultimate result is a whopping 4 hours and 11 minutes long! I don’t know about you but I don’t know how one can gain a longer movie like this but Jackson did it! The mammoth total of all three extended editions is at least an immense 11 hours long! This is fair the movies themselves.

As for all of the extras on the “Extended Editions”, there are over a days worth of extras for surf through on the latter two discs of each film state. The things on them are too colossal to clarify in detail with this review.

Whether you grasp them individually or all at once on this massive gift status, “The Lord of The Rings” trilogy goes down as the greatest trilogy of all time. You could not get a better win. I sing it!

To assign it straight and simple, COWBOY Map is a fun filled couple of hours with some valid men tearing up Unusual York City.

Sonny (Kiefer Sutherland) and Pepper (Woody Harrelson) are a couple of Unique Mexico cowpokes looking for their friend Nacho, after he up and left to net his daughter out a Novel York sweatshop. When the cowboys bag out that Nacho’s been killed by the lowlife (Dylan McDermott) running a racket smuggling young girls like Nacho’s daughter into the US to work as slave labor in his rag factories, they’re ready to commence up an econo-sized can of whupass on the dude, his crew and anybody else who gets in their map.

Sutherland plays it tranquil and cold to Harrelson’s hilarious cocky redneck in the mammoth city, and together they effect a fair pair.

Highlights in this movie include Harrelson wearing Sutherland’s ears out during the lag to Original York. The scene with them ordering dinner at a five-star hotel will also leave many of you fellas rolling on the floor with laughter. Nothing, however, beats the scene with Harrelson showing up at a fashionista soiree, encountering high ruin floozies and a couple of Euroqueen designers cruising to accept him out of his longjohns.

Considering that the saw’s of torture porn continue buzzing away in dank and putrid hostels, while we are treated to yet another cinematic rendition of redacted defeatism playing out in the Valley of Elah, I’ve been appreciating my DVD player and movies like the COWBOY Plan here lately. What’s more, here’s an opinion for a sequel to this movie that I’m offering to Hollywood free of charge, something that also fits into its fixation for politcal messages and its self-delusion of being duty prance to preach to the masses as well:

–Sonny and Pepper derive out that their friend Ibrahim, who runs a string of concession stands selling falafel and kebabs on the rodeo circuit, has gone off in search of his son Omar, who he believes was absconded by the CIA to Egypt. After following their buddy to Cairo, the excellent ol’ boys kick up some sand in between checking out the national bellydance championship finals.

(Now don’t that sound nice? )

This review refers to the Universal/Imagine DVD edition of “The Cowboy Method”….

Look out Novel York!…Pepper Lewis and Sonny Gilstrap, champion rodeo riders from Novel Mexico are about to hurry their blueprint into your radiant city. Yessiree..these guys are accurate cowboys and their hog tying, roping and riding skills are about to near in considerable handy in th Large Apple.

Woody Harrelson and Kiefer Sutherland perform this action/comedy very worthy worth the understanding, as two cowboys who collect themselves fighting off the dreadful guys in NYC’s garment district. They have approach looking for their friend Nacho, who was to lift up his daughter, smuggled in from Cuba. What they gather is a missing friend, a girl who is being held hostage by sweat-shop operators and difficulty at every turn. The action and comedy is non-stop as they go up against a savvy, ruthless “slave-trader”(Dylan McDermot), but also catch a runt support from the NYPD in the obtain of one Officer Sam “Enraged Dog” Shaw(Ernie Hudson), who gets a precise kick out of playing cowboy.

The DVD is ample. A attractive widescreen relate that has challenging details, rich colors and sounds terrific in Dol Dig 5.1 Surround. There are nice captions in English for those needing them and subtitles in Spanish as well.It may also be viewed in Spanish(Stereo) or French(5.1) . The DVD includes production notes, bios on the cast, a theatrical trailer, and Web links. It also says(on the case) there are “Film Highlights” as one of the features, but I could not locate these.

Three stars for a very enthralling and fun understanding, rated PG-13(thematic elements and brief nudity),probably one that will be watched on occassion, but may not stand up to repeated viewings. Large for Woody Harrelson or Kiefer Sutherland fans, and nice to pull out for anyone that has not seen it yet.

Happy Trails….Laurie

As a general rule, I don’t read reviews of anything or pay any attention to critics (even internet-nobody critics like myself) . To paraphrase the colossal Henry Rollins, the sizable majority of ‘em are not worth the food they’re fed. I must confess, however, that had it not been for a couple of movie critics on TV (names obviously withheld) that I happened to procure in passing, I would never have found out about either Paper Heart or the peculiar and unbelievable world of Charlyne Yi, Paper Heart’s star/co-creator/co-writer. So for that, I thank those critics in seek information from. And that’s where my utilize for ‘em ends.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Paper Heart! Click Here

Most of the criticism levelled at Paper Heart that I’m aware of has to do with it not being a “proper” documentary (though Charlyne and director/co-creator/co-writer Nicholas Jasenovec themselves have CLEARLY stated in many interviews that it is, in fact, a “hybrid documentary” that, according to the official Paper Heart website, “combines elements of documentary and venerable storytelling, reality and fantasy to bring a unusual perspective to the new romance and redefines the classic worship account”) and the relationship between Charlyne Yi and co-star Michael Cera not actually being right (please refer to my parenthesesed remarks immediately preceding these parenthesesed remarks) . I’m not exactly clear what all of these critics are not idea but it’s delicate apparent that as usual, they impartial don’t derive it.

I personally maintain that Paper Heart beautifully succeeds as the hybrid documentary that it is and totally fits the definition of it above. Charlyne Yi is an extremely entertaining young newcomer with a smile that can light up a room and truckloads of charm to boot. I seek forward to seeing Great more of her in the future. Michael Cera is Michael Cera and there’s certainly nothing evil with that, as the success of both Superbad and Juno have clearly proven. Jake Johnson deserves special mention for his dry and understated performance as the director, Nicholas Jasenovec (natch) . I also eagerly await his upcoming work. Also worth mentioning are the adorable runt vignettes interspersed throughout the film where right people talk about their experiences being in appreciate and their stories are told via charming as hell two-dimensional puppets created by, you guessed it, the charming as hell Charlyne Yi. The soundtrack, quiet primarily by Michael Cera and Charlyne Yi (with serve from many other talented and gifted songwriters/musicians), is the icing on the cake and provides a terrific listening experience on it’s enjoy.

Paper Heart is a very witty and inspiring film. I highly recommend it.

Perhaps as whimsical and spontaneous as the very nature of moral like, Paper Heart examines the varying degrees and definitions of that magical feeling with diminutive finite direction, but the quirky characters and creative presentation balance out a wandering spot. Halfway through, the documentary reach gives plot to the fairytale romance it spot out to disprove, somewhat negating the efficacy of documenting reality, though the seamless blending with account storytelling does provide a uniquely animated result. Only upon outside investigation will the interpret façade peel away; but almost certainly research will be done by those finding themselves drawn to the lives portrayed onscreen. While the film may not exclaim you what care for really is, it might angle your pre-existing notions about the subject towards something more promisingly optimistic.

A somewhat pseudo-documentary romantic comedy, Paper Heart follows Slash (Jake M. Johnson) and Charlyne (Charlyne Yi) on a cross-country traipse to document what exactly “savor” is. Interviewing ministers, happily married couples, chemists, romance novelists, divorce lawyers, a group of children and more, the certain young girl attempts to earn definition and perhaps even experience the mysterious emotion. But as they move across the United States and even venture to “The City of Like” her pessimistic denial may hinder her chances at finding genuine happiness.

Love can be defined in countless methods, as well as be interpreted in an endless amount of ways. But we already knew that. Paper Heart doesn’t educate audiences on the many hypotheses, nor does it elaborate the answers. It merely makes a social commentary on the subject. Movies and fairy tales have a lot to do with skewing perceptions on like and it seems that people are generally a bit skeptical. But whether it’s a chemical reaction, a drug-induced residence or a mystical phenomenon, the film only serves as an experiment in like – under the constant bombardment of cameras. The nonexistence of privacy is such a distracting factor that precise treasure never has a chance at developing normally.

Paper Heart proves that Michael Cera is the same in actual life as he portrays characters in film. It also proves that anyone can execute a movie provided someone celebrated or well-connected is keen. Regardless of how great is staged, giving it a half-documentary feel, the stories by sincere people expose to be the most exciting. Yi and Cera’s chemistry is like something out of a movie, and considering the involvement of the filming crew, it’s never really more than that. Perhaps most recent is the improvised documentary come, convincing us that the editing and presentation is based almost entirely on how an undetermined romance plays out. The editing with stylized paper dolls is similarly comic, but in the kill, Yi’s beliefs don’t really change. It’s not about her inability to esteem, but rather her unwillingness to justify it.

This is a astonishing low-budget, shadowy and white film starring a large cast of actors: Sidney Poitier, Shelley Winters, Wallace Ford, and then newcomer, Elizabeth Hartman. It was filmed in 1965, at the height of the civil rights movement, and was then considerable for its budding inter-racial romance. While this aspect may seem rather tame today, at the time the movie was filmed, this was quiet a somewhat controversial theme in many parts of America.

Elizabeth Hartman, in an exquisitely poignant performance for which she was nominated for an Academy Award, plays the allotment of Selina D’Arcy, an eighteen year feeble blind girl who lives an isolated and impoverished, almost Dickensian, existence. She lives with her abusive mother, Rose-Ann (Shelley Winters), who moonlights as a prostitute, and her drunken, though somewhat well-meaning, grandfather, whom she calls Ole Pa (Wallace Ford) . Uneducated, having never gone to school, Selina spends her time stringing beads to bag some money for the family, cleaning up after her mother and grandfather, and being at the receiving extinguish of constant physical abuse and verbal invectives heaped upon her by her mother. Hers is, indeed, a draconian existence.

One day, she prevails upon her grandfather to plunge her off in the park, where she proceeds to sit under a tree, stringing her beads. There, she meets a worthy, well-educated business man, Gordon Ralphe (Sidney Poitier), who takes an interest in her and her expeditiously appreciation for any kindness done to her. She responds to Gordon’s kindness as if she were a flower turning its face to the sun for continued warmth. He, in turn, is touched by her involved interest in even the most mundane of matters. They continue to meet under that tree as often as possible, and a relationship develops.

Buy,Download, Or Stream A Patch of Blue! Click Here

Under Gordon’s tutelage, Selina begins to blossom. Some of her disclosures to him about her life beget him with terror and a determination to do something constructive about it. While he goes about trying to improve her quality of life, their relationship deepens, despite the warnings of Gordon’s brother. After all, Selina is white, uneducated, and comes from a trashy, dysfunctional family, while Gordon is shaded, well-educated, and from a top-notch family.

Selina, clear that what she feels is treasure, is less restrained than Gordon about her feelings, though their budding romance culminates in nothing more than a chaste kiss. When Rose-Ann finds out whom Selina has been meeting, however, matters approach to a head, and Gordon comes to the rescue. A original day knight in shimmering armor, however, Gordon does the selfless thing in the raze.

This is a amazing movie in which the two main protagonists, Gordon and Selina, believe each other by the stutter of their respective character and not by the color of their skin. Though controversial at the time, this film may seem a dinky dated by today’s standards. Yet, some of its themes are as unique today as when it was filmed. The thought of selflessness and putting the needs of another before one’s fill remains timeless. This is a plan, however, rarely seen in today’s films.

Buy,Download, Or Stream A Patch of Blue! Click Here

Although this was Ms. Hartman’s debut film, she deservedly received an Academy Award nomination for her sensitive portrayal of Selina. Unfortunately, her career never really took off after this film the arrangement one would have expected after a performance of this caliber. She appeared only in a few principal films, such as, “The Group”, “You’re a Huge Boy Now”, and “Beguiled”, before descending into virtual obscurity. I was saddened to hear that she committed suicide in the slow nineteen eighties at the age of forty-five, a tragic figure in the raze, leaving leisurely this stunning performance for posterity.

The key to the success of this film is its simplicity, including that it’s in unlit and white. There is nothing to distract you from being enfolded in its beauty, and so your emotional involvement in characters, setting and station is complete. It is a perfect period share belonging to 1965, but its appeal is timeless. It’s personal appealto me was as strong as if I were dreaming, and had the role of the blind girl! I dangled in emotional suspense until the very last scene, which shouldn’t be revealed to those who haven’t seen it! As an allegory of the civil rights movement, it spins the account of outrageous injustice that could’ve continued were it not for one individual intervening for apt (as in a shrimp number of dauntless people’s protests bringing an slay to the darkness of Jim Crow injustice) . This is also a extraordinary modern-day Cinderella myth, complete with a prince (Poitier) who breaks the spell of the horrible mother (Winters) . However the film is viewed the quality shines! The most valuable point in this film is the juxtaposition of characters, in which Poitier’s character represents the convey of reason and responsibility, a ground-breaking role for a dim man in 1965.

In this 1933 British film–made between Boris Karloff’s stints as the monster in 1931’s FRANKENSTEIN and THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN in 1935–Karloff plays a dying Egyptologist who possesses an occult gem, known as The Eternal Light, that he believes will bring him immortality if he is buried with it and is thereby able to note it to Anubis in the afterlife. Of course, his bickering, covetous heirs and avaricious associates would rather withhold the gem for themselves. With this in mind, Karloff vows to rise from his grave and survey revenge should anybody meddle in his plans, and he keeps this promise when, fair after his death, one of his colleagues steals The Eternal Light.

THE GHOUL is an atmospheric gothic flick that generates a lot of gooseflesh, but unique audiences may score the region development a bit plain, and gore-hounds weaned on the likes of THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE and similar fare will certainly not assume the film is very scary. But film aficionados who care for the aged Universal monster movies of the 1930s and 1940s will get a lot to like here.

The acting is very good–especially from Ernest Thesiger, who would later go on to play Dr. Pretorious in THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN–though the suitable Karloff has only a few dramatic scenes early on and, as a risen corpse, is later reduced to staggering around in creepy make-up (reminiscent of his make-up in THE MUMMY the year before) . Supporting performances from Cedric Hardwicke and Ralph Richardson back round out the ample job delivered by a unbelievable cast.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Ghoul! Click Here

Based on both the new and the play by Dr. Frank King and Leonard J. Hines, this early British anxiety film–the first to receive an “H” (”Horrific”) rating from the British Board of Film Censors–was once idea to have been forever lost to history. A complete print of THE GHOUL was discovered in Czechoslovakia in the gradual 1960s, however, and was later restored under the supervision of the Museum of New art and Janus Films. The MGM DVD transfer was made from this beautifully restored print, and the VERY reasonable heed of said disc definitely makes this a must-have for serious film collectors and students of classic cinema.

I chanced upon a mention of this film on the internet recently and then read DVD Savant’s authoritative review [...] of two years ago. I bought the DVD last week and watched it twice since. I objective want to say that, if anything, Savant’s review was not involved enough!

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Ghoul! Click Here

This is a transfer of a miraculously preserved print from the British Film Institute of a fear classic that was opinion lost forever. Besides the thrill of watching a 1933 film that looks like a intelligent recent penny (not to mention the wonderfully sweetened sound by Sonic Solutions), many things about this production fabricate it a “thorougly new Mummy”, if you’ll pardon the expression.

The attractiveness of the young principals: The girl (Dorothy Hyson) is absolutely heavenly and radiant as it should be, if a slight stagey in her delivery, and the boy (Anthony Bushell) is a convincing stalwart, if a itsy-bitsy stiff. But when it comes to taking stage directions and giving their all to an action scene, they’re perfect. (Compare to David Manners and Fay Wray.) The assault scene in the bedroom and the final fist fight in the tomb are absolutely exemplary while remaining lovely, convincing and extremely well choreographed.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Ghoul! Click Here

The perfection of Karloff: He speaks his lines like the consummate actor that he is then veers into calm film pantomime mode – with immense conviction – in the rest of the film. What a sparkling man! [His character's name, Morlant, means "mort lente" - tiring, death - in French, by the diagram.]

The direction: British director T. Hayes Hunter may be almost unknown nowadays but his long experience of the silents has certainly served him well. This is one film where the return to a perpetually keen camera is evident after the initial staginess of the first talkies. Not a single frame is static or wasted. Everything is economical, effective and to the point. Some inserts (like the two puzzling close-ups of Anubis during Karloff’s death scene) are absolutely witty in retrospect. Scene for scene, I daresay this film compares favourably to James Whale’s “Obsolete Unlit House” (1932), even if Whale’s film was an influence and they both followed “The Cat and the Canary” (1927) and all of them were adapting a hoary stage tradition of supernatural mysteries with a “perfectly rational” explanation.

The photography, lighting and art direction by two megastars of the German expressionist era (Günther Krampf and Alfred Junge) : I’ve never seen “London in the fog” scenes quite so effective and neither have you. And the interior decor will positively astound you!

The script: Almost every line is an Oscar opening montage moment and quotable for days. (My favourite line: Kathleen Harrison’s speech at the well that starts with the very novel “I don’t believe so!” and ends with “And after that to Australia!”.) The adaptation (from a stage play) is stupendous. I can’t imagine a stage play having all those different actions going on at the same time or a tomb station on fire and then exploding on the stage for that matter. Compare to the sagging middle of “Dracula” (1931), if you will. The farcical interplay between the extraordinary comedienne Kathleen Harrison (Kaney) and the unflappable straight man Harold Huth (Aga Ben Dragore) is noteworthy more than window-dessing. It goes through every phase of infatuation, coyness, seduction, duplicity, raunchy double-entendre, sexual exploitation, rejection and revenge, all the while serving a memoir that actually makes sense. Some of Harrison’s double takes are outrageously humorous. This film was meant to compete with the Universal horrors and American films in general. I mediate it succeeds admirably and actually shows the Yanks how it should be done. It even gives Hitchcock a bustle for his money. The main reason for this being the film’s secret weapon, namely…

The music score: By Louis Levy and Leighton Lucas, who both eventually wrote film music for Hitchcock. Leighton Lucas has the added distinction of having weaved many of Jules Massenet’s melodies and orchestral pieces into the celebrated British ballet “Manon” (1974) . Massenet being my favourite composer and since I’ve always maintained in polite society – after a few drinks, anyway – that all fim music is derived from his operas’ incidental music, this is a huge deal for my ego. More to the point, the exercise of music in this film shows other composers how it should be done. This was the same year as Max Steiner’s fearless and novel “King Kong” procure and two years before Franz Waxman’s epochal catch for “The Bride of Frankenstein” and many years before Hans J. Salter came to work for Universal in the forties.

I also have to mention Cedric Hardwicke doing a perfectly self-possessed impression of Mr. Rat from “The Wind and the Willows”, Ralph Richardson going above and beyond the call of duty, Ernest Thesiger (Dr. Pretorius from “The Bride of Frankenstein” and of “Have a po-tah-to” fame in “The Musty Shadowy House”) outdoing himself in sheer eccentricity and the two “Arabs” giving performances that would be imitated for decades to reach (by Akim Tamiroff, among others) . Did I forget anyone? The doctor (George Relph) would eventually turn up as Tiberius Caesar in “Ben-Hur” (1958) [as Thesiger, arrive to contemplate of it, would turn up as the very same character in "The Robe" (1953) ] and even the uncredited delivery boy speaks his two lines (”Carrier!” and “I’ll oblige you, Guv’nor, I was going straight wait on as it was.”) with stout aplomb! And the landlady who welcomes the visiting Arab with: “We don’t want no lino nor nothing!” Priceless!

Long memoir short: This is a DVD with large show value and, as far as I’m concerned, an immortal instant – if reborn – classic!

OK, so Bride of Re-Animator isn’t as excellent as the unusual, but as fans know, that was a aesthetic hard act to follow. I didn’t really indulge in this movie as worthy until I rented this special edition DVD and was blown away! First of all, this movie has the second most hilarious commentary track (the one with Jeffrey Combs and Dan Abbott, as Dr. West and Dr. Cain) I have every heard (the funniest was Contaminated Wearisome 2, minute edition-I don’t believe anything can top that) .

I should also point out here in all fairness that I’m a complete Re-animator geek, I saw it in the theater in 1985 and was hooked; I’ve probably watched it more than any other fright movie-at least 50 times in the last 15 years. I almost broke my legs in my haste getting to the video store when their copy of the sequel came in I was so exasperated. I was slightly disappointed, but I did have very high expectations. The last 20 minutes or so were shapely impressive, but the prologue I was so psyched to look (more on that later) was completely gone.

When I rented this DVD special edition, though, I decided to actually catch up a copy. Not only; was the commentary by the actors hilarious, but both of the actors, especially Combs, go into piquant details like how the scene was shot,; and even going into the character’s motivations. Combs even remembers some of his lines (with the real inflections he delivered them in), which didn’t compose me feel like such a geek. You can whine he had a blast making the movie and really enjoyed it. Lines that never struck me as especially silly before such as Dr. West saying, “My God…they’re using tools!” were hilarious when the actor made a few comments afterwards. Anyway, if you’re a diehard Re-animator “superfan” (hey,it sounds better than “geek”) like me, you HAVE to look this special edition. I can’t say enough reliable things about the commentary-I realize I sound like a broken relate now as well as a movie geek, but again, you have to gape it for yourself to really relish it.

The disc is absolutely packed with cool-a$$ extras-it’s one of the double-sided ones, so be definite to check out the other side. Some of the highlights include the unrated version- it doesn’t have a whole lot of extra gore, less than a little, but it’s stunning jaw dropping (several more seconds of the climactic meltdown) . It includes stout gradual the scenes footage, (you haven’t laughed till you’ve seen a behind-the-scenes shot of David Hale as Dr. Hill in stout make-up, casually playing poker with a pair of bat wings sewed to his head) and a breakdown of a sequence where the detective actually finds Dr. Hill in a sideshow where he’s advertised as “The Talking Head From the Miskatonic Massacre” (apparently, he followed West’s advice from the first movie) .

But the steady gem is the deleted new sequence where Dan re-animates Meg (hint: it doesn’t go exact smoothly) . It’s sort of a rough cleave, but very satisfying- I read about the opening in Fangoria before the movie came out and belief, “man, I can’t WAIT to view that-perfect!”, so I was really disappointed when it was gash. In fact, it’s worth the mark of the DVD fair to finally pick up to recognize Combs as Dr. Herbert West yelp the immortal line: “No, Hill didn’t raze me…he didn’t have the guts.” YEAH BABY! I waited over 10 years to hear Jeffrey Combs say that line, and by God, it was worth it. Why they crop the opening, I have no belief. Ah, the invention of the DVD special edition -one of technology’s greatest achievements (for us movie fans anyway) .

So, if you’re a immense Combs fan, a gargantuan Stuart Gordon fan, a hard-core fan of the first movie, or all of the above like me, this is a must-add to your collection. Even if you weren’t that blown away by the first movie, you’ll admire this special edition- trust me on this. Great, mighty better than I expected.

Date. Mate. Re-animate.

Bride Of Re-animator was previously released on DVD by Pioneer/Artisan as a Special Edition which was far valid to this bare bones DVD reissue from Artisan. The special edition offered two versions of the film (Rated R and Unrated) . It had a full-length commentary by the director, cast, the special effects guys, etc. It also offered a deleted scene and a blooper/outtake/behind-the-scenes reel which are both absent on this reissue. Another thing it had were many collected galleries, promotional materials, production notes…and more.

I have indeed seen the movie transfer on this reissued DVD, and it looks like the same transfer on the previous DVD release. If you don’t care for special features, or can’t obtain the older DVD…then, and only then, is it a helpful pick for the movie itself!

Artisan must be really indolent these days. They’d had no special features on any of their current DVD releases of older Dismay and Sci-Fi flicks. Not even a theatrical trailer! It’s almost as if they could care less because they know the product will sell anyways.

So, you may ask…why am I giving this a 5 star rating? For the movie itself…surely not for this featureless DVD! The only thing satisfactory about this reissue is that it has the unique movie artwork on the cloak, even though the aged DVD “neon” artwork looked considerable cooler.

I am not generally an Adam Sandler fan, but this film really surprised me. I liked it very considerable, and the music obsolete brought befriend a lot of superior memories. He plays a down on his luck wedding singer that is left at the alter, and when he meets Julia played by Drew Barrymore, sparks flit. I was very surprised by the chemistry Sandler and Barrymore have on hide. A romance with a profitable amount of comedy mixed in is the perfect formula.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Wedding Singer! Click Here

This was one of Adam’s breakthrough films before pointless blockbusters like “Waterboy” and “Spacious Daddy”. While those films have a few amusing moments and are OK, this one is very cleaver and showcases Sandler as a human being rather than honest some unimaginative hick or honest some loud bastard.

“The Wedding Singer” is about Robbie Hart, an average guy, that lives a simple suburban life with a hot fiancée and a wintry gig in the mid eighties. Life is colossal until his lady dumps him. He’s crushed and his career as a weeding singer goes down the toilet as he sinks into a depression that includes listening to The Cure. Sounds like a mountainous depression. Anyway, a young girl named Julie (Drew Barrymore) helps him to derive his life help together. The only scrape is that she is engaged to a smug yuppie loser. So what’s going to happen. Well, like in most eighties comedies, the hero will try to gather over the girl even if it takes the serve of Billy Idol!

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Wedding Singer! Click Here

Not the most modern memoir in the world, and the chemistry is only OK between Drew and Adam, but its really all the eighties jokes that manufacture this film so very comic. People have niches and dress in styles. People dress up like “characters” like Madonna, Don Johnson, Boy George and even the guy from Flock of Seagulls. The combination of an awesome soundtrack and ’80s clichés, not to mention huge acting (Steve Buschemi’s cameo steals the point to) beget the film a winner. Adam can really act like a normal romantic and this movie proves it. Too unpleasant so many people take him as a moron. Comedy lovers and Sandler fanatics unite and catch this film.

Without a doubt, Shawn Spencer is the public’s popular fraudulent fictional psychic detective. Of course as far as I know, he’s also the only one.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Psych – The Complete Second Season! Click Here

But that doesn’t terminate the second season of “Psych” from being a rollicking edifying time, stout of crazy schemes and baffling destroy mysteries. James Roday and Dulé Hill actually become even more provocative, with less slapstick and more of a reliance on eccentric residence twists, pop culture references, and crimes that catch ever weirder.

Shawn (Roday) and Gus (Hill) net swamped by reality pop culture when American Duos comes to Santa Barbara. The cruel British mediate Nigel St. Nigel (Tim Curry) hires them to protect him, because he thinks that someone is trying to end him.

A live wire and a poisoned sandwich later, Shawn agrees — especially when a drugged-out female assume almost dies. But out of all the people who abhor Nigel, which one tried to raze him? Then the police suspect that Shawn has lost his touch when he announces that someone was killed by a dinosaur, and is confronted by a sexy FTD psychic.

But that isn’t the last or least of Sean and Gus’s problems — a crop shop with secrets, bounty hunters, Gus’s parents accused of Yuletide abolish, jockey deaths and fixed races, nanny-related robberies, electrocutions on the catwalk, and going undercover at a telenovela, a school for the gifted, and a retirement community. They even have a run-in with a wealthy, crazy woman that Gus drunkenly married on spring atomize years ago… and it turns out her novel fiancee is a bit shady.

Finally, Shawn and Gus are pursuing one of their weirdest cases ever. First a security guard is suspected of stealing a 3000-year-old mummy — but then it appears that the mummy actually murdered the guard. Can Shawn figure out what is going on — with the mummy execute, the police chief, and his oddly-behaving father?

Although it didn’t demolish considerable original ground, the first season of “Psych” was very original and spicy TV. Fortunately creator Steve Franks is sticking to the aged adage: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and the second season doesn’t deviate from what works — there’s serene lots of comedy, spoofery, droll dialogue (”It’s spontaneous psychic krav maga!”) and luscious mysteries.

The first episode kicks things off a bit weakly, since the “American Idol” joke gets stretched out too far. Fortunately the mysteries after that salvage grand more solid, deftly juggling even the funny-sounding region twists (strangulation by mummy bandage? Refrigeration trucks? ) . You even find an endless parade of pop culture references, from Michael Jackson to “Shaun of the Expressionless,” James Bond to wikipedia.com. Gotta treasure that.

But the best aspect of “Psych” continues to be its kooky dialogue. Usually Shawn provides it (”I hunger for the meatballs the plot a jackal salivates for an injured possum”), but other characters secure to as well (”Hola. Me llamo Inspector Carlton Lassiter. Me gusta queso”) .

Shawn and Gus remain an involving pair of twentysomething everymen, with Roday continuing to be eccentric, lovably charming and kooky — although Shawn gets quite a shock in the cliffhanger ending. And Hill gets more attention, with Gus pursuing models and faking psychic powers. We even study a secret past provocative sweater vests, spring smash, and a drunken wedding — lots of fun.

And the supporting cast remains solid — Corbin Bernsen gets to participate in a couple of the cases as Shawn’s hard-nosed dad, sometimes in loud tropical shirts. Timothy Omundson continues to be gripping as harder-nosed cop Lassiter. And Maggie Lawson rounds off the cast as the “enigma wrapped in a cramped blonde riddle” who is Shawn’s savor interest, as well as a counterpoint to Lassiter.

The second season of “Psych” continues the eccentric crimes and equally exclusive crimesolvers, mingling comedy and mystery with only a couple archaic spots. Sweet unlit licorice!

CAUTION: Watching Psych while enjoying milk may cause said milk to reach out your nose. Please drink responsibly.

This prove is freakin’ hilarious. There are a few sitcoms that have made me laugh, even one hour comedy/dramas that I have found humorous, but I have never watched a television explain that has made me laugh as worthy or as consistently as Psych.

Shawn Spencer is a hyper-observant son of a police detective, who frequently calls in tips to the police hotline to solve crimes. After calling in one too many tips, the police bring him in for questioning. The head detective (”Lassiter a/k/a Lassie”) thinks that Shawn must be eager in the crimes to have given all the tips. To avoid arrest, Shawn tells the detective he is a psychic and the “spirits” give him the information about the crimes. Thus begins a pretty relationship between the Chief, Lassie, Shawn and his best friend Gus. Shawn & Gus initiate “Psych”, their psychic detective agency which leads to all sorts of hijinx.

Thank you to everyone keen in making Psych and USA for airing it, because quite frankly it is the funniest note on tv, hands down. The cast is perfect, the premise provocative and the antics are hilarious! Objective remember, avoid projectile milk. Now, who wants some pineapple? Are you a fan of appetizing flavor?

It’s shows like this that grab not only our attention, but explain us impartial how insane the world we live in is. Because we all know the only reason one wouldn’t like it, is because the boys of South Park rip on you, your family and your ideas and religious beliefs…which tend to be hysterical in their gain fraction. So if you’re able to laugh at others and most importantly yourself, the South Park seasons are by far a mountainous purchase. And if you don’t win it then your Dum dum dum dum dum…..
