I can understand why some people might hate this movie (objective survey at its box-office) but the one undeniable fact is that it perfectly captures the spirit of the TV reveal which was never really associated with profound human feelings. It’s wonderful how everyone eager in it simply decided to give it their all. Unbiased eye at the conviction with which Susan Sarandon and John Goodman recited lines that clearly feel out of a cartoon. Usually I abominate movies with snappily cuts and gratuitous CG effects and Hurry RACER is 135 minutes of swiftly cuts and CG so I guess nostalgia goes a long procedure. I was so contented they included the sound carry out of the Mach 5 jumping over and over again. My only loyal complaint about the movie is that there was a itsy-bitsy bit too great of the chimp for my taste.

I can’t blame anyone for complaining on leaving the theater with a headache. The world outside the theater I saw Rush RACER in looked so dumb once the movie ended, this is one exhausting film but certainly worth it.

Recently it seems like cartoon and comical books are about the only thing that gets made into blockbuster movies. While Transformers made the robots gaze like accurate living hulks of metal in the trusty world, and there’s honest no telling what the proposed Robotech movie will explore like if it ever actually comes out, Accelerate Racer takes what is becoming the rather unpopular scheme of visual style. If you’ve seen Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow, you’re familiar with it. Everything has a computer-adjusted color sight to it, a super-crisp, super-sharp seek reminiscent of the stop-motion films of yesteryear. And like those films that made the 80’s so great fun for fantasy and sci-fi fans, Accelerate Racer features wonderful landscapes like nothing else on Earth (only now they are computer-generated instead of hand-painted) .

The legend of Bustle Racer the movie actually exactly the same as the outmoded cartoon exhibit of the 1960’s. Rush Racer (yeah, that’s actually his name) is an aspiring speed car driver looking to become the best and bag races, with Pop’s company supplying the car and mechanic, and his mom, minute brother Spidle, girlfriend Trixie and family pet chimp for aid. Corporate thugs gaze and try to either demolish, bankrupt, or otherwise fabricate anguish for Racer Motors, and Bustle teams up with Racer X (who may or may not be his presumed tiring, brother Rex), Inspector Detector, and a few friends he meets along the device, to bring down the abominable guys and set the day. Yeah, nothing too complex story-wise, but hey, that’s why you loved the cartoon present, upright?

Everything a Cartoon Should Be

When I first heard there was going to be a Hasten Racer movie by the makers of the Matrix, I was timid. Interesting features and video games don’t really have a honorable history as feature films. But after seeing Bustle Racer in the theater five times, I have to admit, they got it shapely distinguished perfect. The trick with making a cartoon movie live action, and intentionally making it ogle cartoony, is that you have to push everything into a consistent cartoon universe and have it perform sense in it’s context. In other words, you have to invent things exaggerated, but not the point of total impossibility in the world you have created. You notice in the Hasten Racer world, cars have insane power, traction, control, and run. So when you search for the Mach 5 speeding around corners in insane power-slides, yeah it looks like a cartoon, but you earn it as actually happening in that cartoon. It never looks out of site. When the engine roars and cars explode into flames it isn’t comic, it’s movie magic of the best kind, like when Luke’s X-Wing lands that shot into the Death Star in Star Wars.

It’s hard to recount without actually seeing it for yourself, but the cartoon universe of Urge Racer really is created wonderfully in this film. Everything from the sky to the furniture has an over-exposed super-vivid quality to it, like a technicolor gone excited. There is CGI backgrounds galore, but they jive perfectly with that universe as well, because everyone is wearing super-bright colors as well, and everything is always in razor animated focus. Actually, this may be the movie to design me upgrade to a Blue Ray player, because it has to be the ultimate benchmark for color, inequity, and sharpness for a long time to advance.

The world of Hurry Racer is fantastic enough, but the map that the film is acted, shot, directed, and scored musically is what combines to earn it a 10 out of 10. For starters, everyone is objective so INTO their roles. Susan Sarandon as Mom and John Goodman as Pop Racer are both absolutely perfect, managing to become those stereotypical cartoon characatures and at the same never near across as cheesy, over-the-top or unrealistic. Again, in the context of the film, they are fraction of the Universe. Pop talks to Hurry like he really is his son, mom gives a heart-warming speech about how proud she is of Race that really gets to you if you know what it’s like to admire your family. Never does anyone betray even slightly that they reflect their names are ridiculous or that they are saying laughable lines. EVERYONE gives their lines like they are absolutely exact. And if you’re making a Star Wars or a Run Racer, that makes the movie in the kill. Everyone was colossal. From the mechanic and the itsy-bitsy brother (a lot less anoying than the Spridle of the cartoon) to the absolutely aesthetic and incredibly cute-looking Trixie played to perfection by Christina Ricci (where the heck has she been and why now of all times did she settle to play a sweet, loveable babe instead of all those crazy curious gothic-horror type roles? ), you gotta care for them all. I especially was contented by how well Racer X was portrayed with chilly stoicism. Honest amazing.

The reach constant consume of deep focus photography and other camera techniques, combined with tons of digital hide wipes and other minor tricks, results in an incredibly slick presentation that cascades past the cloak like panels of a humorous book in magnificent living color. The comedy and dramatic buttons are always pushed to ample carry out, all while keeping things from getting too far from the light-hearted entertainment that Bustle Racer should be. And when the orchestral remix of the Race Racer theme kicks in, it’s impartial magic.

You really can’t interrogate mighty more from this movie than it already is. It’s factual to the spirit of Hurry Racer, the characters are all acted perfectly, the legend is classic, there are tons of vast moments and Race Racer tributes (like Speed’s wearing his trademark blue shirt and red handkerchief and his classic pose when he jumps from the Mach 5, or the sound carry out made every time the Mach 5’s jump jacks are obsolete) . Hurry Racer may not be perfect. The villains feel more Hanna Barbara than Accelerate Racer, the sprinkling of swear-words (and Spridle giving someone the finger? ) really don’t jive in the kid-friendly Hasten Racer universe, and the visual style of this film is definitely not for everyone. But…

If you’re like me and adore humorous books, video games, and anime, if you like to inspect outmoded shows unprejudiced as worthy as current ones, if crazy CGI and a movie shot entirely with blue-screens makes you smile, and the Race Racer theme kicking in full-blast unprejudiced as Hurry makes a triumphant comeback makes you cheer… this is the movie for you!

I can’t add anything to the praise for this film. If you treasure Disney films, this is considered one of the classics. I objective wish to briefly comment on the criticism of the lack of a widescreen version. The first widescreen film, The King and I, was released in 1956. Previous to this all films were pudgy cover. Peter Pan, released in 1953, and a gracious many of the Disney classics are only available in bulky veil aspect. This is not the Pan and Scan alteration of an recent Widescreen format. The plot this film is presented on the DVD is the current aspect ratio; Nothing has been altered. I have seen this so called criticism leveled against many Hollywood classics such as Casablanca, Gone with the Wind and The Wizard of Oz. Please, rep off your high horse and conclude whinning about how Disney or whatever movie company is ripping you off. None of these films ever had a widescreen version to start with. Do a minute research and you could be whine to luxuriate in these classics in the aspect ratio they were orginally presented in. Thats all I wish to say.

The children in the Darling family care for fable about Peter Pan. So naturally when he shows up one night looking for his missing shadow, they’re thrilled to go benefit with him to Never Land. There, they face Indians and “the world’s most celebrated crook,” Captain Hook. Will they survive their adventures with the boy who never wants to grow up?

I have always had a fascination with this legend. As a kid I remember checking the Disney recount book version out of the library week after week. When I finally got to view it, I was enthralled. There is honest something magical about the tale. It’s partially the coming together of all the boyhood adventures in one residence. Mermaids, Indians, and Pirates? What more could any boy want? And, of course, the ability to soar. The “You can hover” sequence over London is one of my all time favorites. The whole movie really is entertaining very well with a fable that movies posthaste from dwelling to area with lots of humor to hold everyone entertained and blooming animation of the fanciful Never Land.

This special edition is worth tracking down. The characterize (modern rotund frame) is intriguing and the surround sound is very nice. Extras include a documentary on the making of the movie and a promotional theatrical featurette from the unusual release. The “audio commentary” is new. Hosted by Roy Disney, it consists of selections from interviews of the negate talent, live action models, animators, and animation historians. While not your usual commentary, it’s provocative stuff and well worth a listen. Finally, there’s a savor hunt game and DVD storybook for kids.

Before a (then) diminutive known Paris wine tasting in 1976, most people had no view that California was producing world class wines. That changed when a British ex-pat in Paris organized a wine tasting of the best French versus the best Californians – against all expectations, California won both best red and white and nothing in the wine world has been the same since.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Bottle Shock! Click Here

This drama/light comedy follows the legal legend of the travails of the winning white (Chardonnay) winery leading up to the competition. There is lots to bask in here including a struggling exiguous business tale, an evolving father-son relationship, the comeuppance of an arrogant industry, and of course, a worship triangle. The movie is well cast (and very well acted) with Bill Pullman as the business owner father and Alan Rickman as the snobby Brit amazed to procure that righteous wines can be found this side of the Atlantic.

In the final analysis, this is a feel top-notch movie, ample for the whole family with the proviso that kids under 10 might net bored in places.

I saw this movie when it first came out, and then save on a tasting party based on the wines they drank in the movie. People had a spacious time watching the movie while drinking some of the same wines from the celebrated tasting (newer vintages) . It is suitable that a lot of artistic licence has been taken, so if you care about the loyal facts, read The Judgement of Paris (good book) . However, there are some hilarious lines, Alan Rickman is astonishing, and the scene of the tasting itself is a must for anyone that cares about wine. Personally, I would hasty forward through the love-triangle scenes (”Jules and Jim” this film is not) . Any wine lover who doesn’t peek it because of the negative comments about it not perfectly following the facts will be missing out on a very toothsome film.

There is something grotesquely ironic about seeing conventional First Lady Nancy Regan as the caretaker of a disembodied brain zigzag on world conquest–but at the time the movie first appeared the mountainous irony in casting concerned actor Lew Ayres, who was best remembered as for his cover series as the agreeable and responsible Dr. Kildaire, and who here plays a exasperated scientist. One scheme or another, cult-film enthusiasts will have spacious fun with this one. But even so, DONOVAN’S BRAIN has a lot more going for it than cult-film appeal: the myth line continues to resonate in the fresh era of medical ethics issues, the script is surprisingly bright, and the director and actors play it out at a speedy journey.

Based on a successful modern, DONOVAN’S BRAIN concerns a scientist (Ayers) who is experimenting with keeping monkey brains alive in tanks–and when a nearby plane fracture lands a terminal accident victim on his surgery table he presses his wife (Nancy Davis, later Regan) and surgical sidekick (Gene Evans) into recovering a human brain for his work. And he succeeds beyond all expection. Exertion is, the brain belongs to a truly depraved multi-millionaire who wants to retract over the world, and under Ayres care the brain grows… and begins to exert an unexpectedly contemptible psychic influence on those around it.

Ayres was a gifted leading man whose credits ranged from ALL Calm ON THE WESTERN FRONT to JOHNNY BELINDA, and the film owes mighty of its success to his talents; Gene Evans is also quite genuine as the drunken surgeon Ayres befriends. As for Nancy, she is clearly a B-Movie actress, but she is a surprisingly competent one. Cult fans will have a field day, but the movie is too bewitching as a whole to be designated such pure and simple; it has a lot going for it, and unprejudiced about every one who sees it will have a friendly time. Recommended.

This is a desirable movie based on Curt Siodmak’s current about Dr. Pat Cory (Lew Ayers), his assistant Dr. Frank Shratt (Gene Evans), and his wife Jan (Nancy Davis, who would later become First Lady, Nancy Reagan) experimenting on a monkey’s brain, trying to retain it alive on its possess, when an airplane rupture happens arrive by. Requiring the doctor’s assistance, he uses his house to fabricate an operation on the only survivor, the multi-millionaire Warren Donovan.

This fails, but Cory hits upon the understanding of using Donovan’s brain for his experiments, with some unexpected results.

This isn’t a gory movie by any means, but it is very effective with estimable performances all around.

The print that was archaic for the DVD is very positive and detailed, which sometimes shows the movie’s shortcomings (some outrageous stock footage for a car rupture sequence and a poorly “matted” rain shot) .

This budget DVD comes with a theatrical trailer and is closed captioned. If you’re a sci-fi fan, I highly recommend it.

Ahhh, the classic post-apocolyptic thriller that sets the standard for post-apocolyptic thrillers. One tagline reads ‘In the future, cities will become deserts, roads will become battlefields and the hope of mankind will appear as a stranger’. I remember skipping school in the early 80’s to discontinue home and view this one on cable, Such a titanic movie that has lost none of it’s appeal even after 20 plus years. This is the anecdote of a man, once an officer of the law, who now roams the highways of post-apocolyptic Australia searching for gasoline and maybe a reason to exist. In this time, gasoline is the most famous commodity, so great so men waste for it. Mel Gibson plays Max, in the role that made him known worldwide. During his travels, he comes across a little settlement that is actually producing petroleum. This settlement is besieged by a group of motorized, murdering, mauraders who want all the fuel. Brilliant that the fuel is life, the people in the settlement defend the fuel, but their strength and ability to bear out against this considerable force is becoming less and less each day. Max strikes a deal with them for all the fuel he can carry provided he can regain a truck for them so they can haul their tanker of gas out of the wasteland and accept a better life in a fabled coastal land. Max fufills his extinguish of the bargin, and leaves the settlement with his fuel, but is attacked and left for uninteresting. Having lost his car, he decides to drive the tanker. This sets up one of the most wonderful highway battles ever filmed, as the settlers have turned the tanker into a though-provoking fortess, and the marauders will end at nothing to discontinuance the tanker and net the gas. This movie is what I would call a nearly pefect example of proper casting, tale, dialogue, spot, script, wardrobe, etc. to acquire up a reach perfect movie. Everything in the movie works so well that your entire attention is focused on the veil, even after multiple viewings. This is actually the second in a trilogy, Indignant Max being the first and Wrathful Max Beyond Thunderdome being the third, but, in my view, this one is the best. It’s raw, gritty, sometimes humourous and competely gripping. On a side designate, what’s up with Warner Brothers and their crummy cardboard packaging? It fair seems so flimsy and cheap. And don’t watch for a lot of extras with this release, unbiased the rotund and widescreen versions and some production notes.

This fair in…I heard George Miller and Mel Gibson are bringing Max benefit one more time in 2004 in Furious Max: Fury Road……

This movie, the second in the Indignant Max trilogy, is easily the best of the three. Visually, it’s very distinctive. The first movie showed a society breaking down in the post apocalyptic world. By this movie, it’s broken down. The first movie showed the immediate aftermath. There were mild working phones, power lines, people trying to go on with their normal lives, etc. There was even a police force, of which Max was a member, trying to own order. Now, society has descended into complete anarchy. Civilization’s infrastructure has broken down completely. In the first movie you saw shops, service stations, hospitals. Now you perceive people scavenging in a wrecked world. Max’s car is no longer a shimmering shadowy vehicle, but a delapidated, dirty ancient beater, its engine aloof in top shape, but its interior stripped, and its body covered in dust, battered and dilapidated. Max’s leather police uniform is no longer immaculate, but torn and patched. Visually, this movie space a unusual standard, and like “Star Wars” and “Blade Runner”, changed the map movies in its genre were made. Even the setting works in telling the record. Where the first film featured country with trees and green grass, this movie is area in a blasted desert, further accentuating the sense of collapse.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Road Warrior! Click Here

And this movie’s quality doesn’t raze with the visuals. It has a big, inviting tale, very reminiscent of the pulp adventures of old-fashioned. It’s hero, a wanderer, a uniquely skilled and deadly loner, is a mythic archetype. The actors are all perfectly cast. Mel Gibson, with only a few lines of dialogue, turns in a compelling, emotional performance, showing the transformation from the overjoyed, loving husband and father of the first film, to the wounded, burnt out shell of a man seen here. In this film, Max is a tough, fang-scarred ragged wolf, who has absolutely nothing to live for, but whose survival instinct, combined with his toughness and resourcefulness, impartial won’t let him halt.

The other characters in this movie are also novel and memorable. Bruce Spence’s gyro captain is a likeable opportunist. Mike Preston’s Papagallo is the distinct, idealistic leader, in over his head, but trying his best. Vernon Wells makes a enormous, flamboyant villain. And Kjell Nilsson is the Humungus, whose face we never see; leader of a vicious band of trash, whose hulking physique, and savage followers seem at odds with his lisp speech, and ostensibly conciliatory manner. The tale and characters elevate this movie over the host of outrageous budget imitators that followed. But the film is not short on action either. And George Miller was a gifted director who set aside to film what remain the best car toddle scenes ever shot, good down to this day. Action lovers will win plenty of excitement with this movie. It’s a bad shame the third film wasn’t very marvelous, as it killed the prospects of a long running series. This is dusky because Max, wandering lone wolf that he is, is a character who, like James Bond, Sherlock Holmes, or the Conan of the mature pulp magazines is eminently splendid to a series of adventures.

“Jezebel,” directed by William Wyler, opens in Unusual Orleans in 1852. The film tells the memoir of Miss Julie, a strong-willed Southern belle played with passion and flair by the stout Bette Davis. Miss Julie’s tempestuous relationship with a stunning gentleman (played by Henry Fonda) is played out in the shadow of both social controversies and a yellow fever epidemic.

“Jezebel” is a superbly produced period fraction. The opulent sets and costumes, along with the romantic musical find, contribute well to the overall feel of the film. The black-and-white cinematography is breathtaking; Davis looks positively intellectual in many scenes.

The advantageous Davis gets solid succor from the rest of the satisfactory cast. But compose no mistake: this is Davis’ represent, and she commands the shroud from her first scene. Her Miss Julie is a flawed but inspiring woman.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Jezebel! Click Here

This is a thought-provoking film on many levels. The portrayal of Southern culture as unique and alien to Northerners, the fetishization of Southern womanhood (a “ragged, comely chalice,” as one male character puts it), the references to the abolitionist controversy, and the depiction of the relationships between sunless servants and white masters are all appealing elements in the film, and richly ironic. “Jezebel” is one Hollywood classic that remains compelling and, I absorb, commence to novel notable interpretations.

Probably (excluding All About Eve) the finest pictures Bette Davis made were under the direction of the immense William Wyler. And Davis never looked better than in this film.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Jezebel! Click Here

Despite excellent performances from Henry Fonda and George Brent, Fay Bainter and Spring Byington, Henry O’Neil and Donald Crisp, Jezebel is really Davis’ movie as the camera caresses her in terminate ups time and again, and she rewards it’s attention with an A – class performance.

Davis also made The Letter and The Slight Foxes under Wyler’s direction, she loved working with him, his attention to detail, her preparedness to redo scenes over and again until the Master was joyful (Wyler was known to examine consume after occupy – in some cases, 50 or 60 times – until he got what he was looking for) and of course, the finished product.

Jezebel was made in 1938 as Warner Bros wanted to cash in on the success of the book create of Gone With The Wind, a best seller – and another tale of the drop of the South and a headstrong woman whose stubborness costs her the man she loves – and score Jezebel out in the theatres before GTW which was in pre-production, when Jezebel was being shot.

Jezebel is actually area before the Civil War (unlike GTW) in the early 1850’s when the South was a thriving space, and men held big store in their honour, and women well versed in meeting the strictly defined code of dress and behaviour that was so fundamental to life in the Olde South.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Jezebel! Click Here

For reasons known only to herself, Julie Marsden (Bette Davis) decides to ignore such boundaries and when fiance Preston Dillard (Henry Fonda) arrives to acquire her to the ball, he finds, to his apprehension that she has chosen to wear a red gown instead of the white one society expects her as a single woman to wear.

She is humiliated by the reaction of her contemporaries at the ball – especially when Pres refuses to allow her to slink away. And when the dance has been completed he takes her home and politely wishes her “Goodbye” not “Noble Night”, thus breaking their engagement.

This may sound crass in the 2000’s, but in 1852’s Fresh Orleans Julie’s scant regard for the manners of the day and her insensitivity to the feelings of others forced Preston to realise a life to her would be one long never ending battleground.

This is the first copy of Jezebel I have owned – because of the terrible quality of the film in the past, I decided against buying one.

But the restoration has been suited and has allowed those of us not feeble enough to enjoy it’s fresh mint condition on it’s cinematic release abet in ‘38 to look this masterpiece the scheme it was intended.

Bette Davis won an Academy Award for best actress and Fay Bainter won for Best Supporting Actress. Both awards were well earned.

The direction and photography, are extraordinary, and despite Warners making Jezebel in murky and white, it looks incredible and gives the viewer a real

sense of the magesty and beauty that was the pre-Civil War south.

I saw “The Alps” at the IMAX theater at the Cincinnati Museum Center befriend in the tumble, and I was very impressed with the film and the overall experience of seeing it in the IMAX format. The photography is graceful, the setting is quite breathtaking, the music is first-rate, and the yarn is moving, spellbinding and ultimately very attractive. “The Alps” contrasts the grandeur and majesty of nature with a meditation on the relationships between parents and their children, and does both very well. The film certainly made an impression on me.

Breathtaking visuals and awesome footage even in the “non-mountain” scenes. That alone rates this movie a HIGH Recommendation. However, the choice of music was unpleasant and more attention should have been paid to the climb and less to the backstory and peripheral issues. Overall though, an genuine if somewhat short film.

Of the three newest Walt Disney Treasures DVD packages, this is perhaps the lesser known, but it is by no means the least notable. It’s what customary to be known as “rip-roaring” substantial adventure, produced on a rich, colossal scale unheard-of during the period in which it first appeared.

“Dr. Syn,” which was based on British novels and legends explained on a challenging documentary also included on disc one, is a Robin Hood or Zorro of sorts. But the incompatibility is that Dr. Syn is a highly respected minister who completely fools the pompous abominable guys. Yet, in this three-part series, the villains are fleshed out and not caricatured. The dignity and seriousness of the drama holds up beautifully today without the slightest sense of cliché.

In this 2-disc station, you bag all three Astonishing WORLD OF COLOR hours with introductions by Walt himself, plus the edited feature-length version released theatrically in Europe in the 60’s and then in the U.S. in the 1970’s. But the aspect ratio of the modern print has been restored for this release so you’ll even gawk the television versions in more depth than before, with dazzling restored prints and sound that especially brings out the lush musical accumulate (I wish it was on a separate track!)
